Yu Hua

Yuhua, born in April 1960, once practiced dentistry for five years.  He began his writing career in 1983, and so far has published five novels, six anthologies of stories as well as five collections of essays.  Among his main works are Brothers, To Live, Chronicle of a Blood Merchant, Cries in the Drizzle, China in Ten Words,The Seventh Day.  His works have been translated into more than thirty different languages and published in such a variety of countries as U.S, U.K, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Russia, Bulgaria, Austria, Czech, Serbia, Slovakia, Poland, Turkey, Brazil, Israel, Egypt, Kuwait, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, India, and Indonesia etc.  He has won numerous international awards for his works such as PREMIO GRINZANE CAVOUR of Italy in 1998, CHEVALIER DE L’ ORDRE DES ARTS ET DES LETTRES of France in 2004, PRIX COURRIER INTERTIONAL of France in 2008 and GIUSEPPE ACERBI LITERARY INTERNATIONAL PRIZE of Italy in 2014 etc.
