Billy O'Callaghan

Billy O'Callaghan was born in Cork, and is the author of three short story collections, the most recent of which, 'The Things We Lose, the Things We Leave Behind' (2013) published by New Island Books, earned him a 2013 Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Award. His work has received numerous awards, been translated into Polish, Portuguese and Turkish, and selected, as Ireland's representative, for UNESCO's ongoing Cities of Literature project. Over the past decade, more than eighty of his stories have appeared in literary journals and magazines around the world, including: Absinthe: New European Writing, Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, the Bellevue Literary Review, Confrontation, the Fiddlehead, Hayden’s Ferry Review, the Kyoto Journal, the Los Angeles Review, the London Magazine, Narrative, the Southeast Review, and Yuan Yang: a Journal of Hong Kong and International Writing. He is currently at work on a novel and, always, new stories.
